Biography
Demetrios Tripolitis is an animation generalist working in both 2D and 3D digital mediums with a focus on 3D modeling, digital sculpture, and character design. He is a Cherry Hill native receiving his BFA in Computer Animation. His work focuses on visual development, conceptual characters, and chromatic symbolism. Some of his professional work includes graphic design for the Cherry Hill American Little League and the Cherry Hill Lightning Softball Team.
Artist Statement
Darkness Has Seen Cast – Poster
The Characters portrayed in this large vinyl print are the same featured in Tripolitis’s thesis film. The three large figures are only a small sample of a whole host of characters that represent different aspects of the electromagnetic spectrum or light spectrum. Dierus, the large central figure, is the embodiment of darkness itself. Delilah and Whime, the two glowing figures, embody violet light and White light respectively. The skeleton, Remus, and the robot, Romulus, are immortal technicians tasked with maintaining an enormous cosmic computer.
Dierus Armored – 3D Print
The figure depicted is one of Tripolitis’s original characters, Dierus, the embodiment of darkness itself in his armored form. He is the protagonist of Tripolitis’s Thesis film: Darkness Has Seen: Celidon and the protagonist of Tripolitis’s wider animated universe.
