Biography

Elizabeth Straub is a Graphic Design major focused on the structural foundations of music and its translation into visual form. Focusing on rhythm, melody, harmony, tone, and dynamics, her work deconstructs sound into its core components and reinterprets them through typography, repetition, and compositional systems. Her practice centers on the parallels between musical composition and graphic composition, revealing music not only as something that is heard, but as something visually constructed. Originally from Washington Township, New Jersey, her background continues to influence her creative perspective and approach.

Artist Statement

My thesis explores the structural foundations of music and translates them into visual form through design. Focusing on elements such as rhythm, melody, harmony, tone, and dynamics, the work deconstructs sound into its core components and reinterprets them through typography, repetition, and compositional systems. Through this process, the project reveals how music can be experienced not only through sound, but also through structured visual language.
