Biography
I am Nariko Johnson, a graphic design student from Pine Hill, New Jersey. My love for art began at a young age and continued to grow as I studied Fine Arts in community college. I later shifted my focus to graphic design to challenge myself creatively and expand my skills. Through this field, I have developed as a designer and deepened my understanding of myself both personally and artistically. My work reflects my values of intentional creation, cultural exploration, and sustainable design. I enjoy using bold colors to highlight important ideas and create visual contrast in my work. Graphic design has become a tool for self-discovery, and I am excited to continue evolving in both my craft and identity.
Statement
Through bold color and typography, I educate viewers on important issues. For the past ten years, I have been a vegetarian and have actively prioritized environmentally friendly choices while seeking ways to reduce consumerism. In my work, I often juxtapose hard facts with compelling imagery and striking colors, creating work that is both visually engaging and thought-provoking.
My cultural background also plays a significant role in my creative process. After losing my grandmother at a young age, I developed a deep desire to learn more about Japanese culture, and this influence is inherently reflected in my work. I view my artwork as an extension of myself—a means of expression that allows me to communicate my values, experiences, and perspectives in a meaningful way.
